Hormann are Europe’s largest steel garage door manufacturer. Founded in 1935 and based in Germany, they have factories all over the world making their own specific range of high quality garage doors.

Hormann set the benchmark against which other manufacturers and their products are compared. They pioneered the European version of the sectional garage door, which is very popular due to it’s numerous advantages over up and over doors and very competitive pricing.
The U.K. base for Hormann is Leicester. Here, they store door panels and components which are made in Germany, and then assemble the finished doors to order. Although a thick gauge of high grade steel is used, automated secret welding and a door chassis design second to none, the Hormann up and over door is no dearer than it’s competitors, some of which are constructed using pop rivits and thinner, lower quality steel.

The Hormann timber range of garage doors are constructed in the U.K. using the Hormann steel chassis and top grade FSC cedar. Full finishing in Sikkens woodstain, an option.

Hormann GRP (fibre glass) doors are also constructed in the U.K. using the German-made chassis and a U.K.-made GRP front panel.
The Hormann sectional garage door has had an important influence on the U.K. garage door market since it’s introduction in approx. 1994. It offers high security, maximises drive through width, comes with a maintenance-free fixing frame and can come in any colour. Width and height cuts are carried out in the U.K. when required, hence producing made-to-measure doors quickly at little extra cost. Even the LTE single-skin sectional door from Hormann has all round rubber seals. The EPU door is twin-walled, foam filled 20mm thick and gives strength and a good level of insulation at little extra cost. The flagship door, the LPU 40, is 42mm thick giving a u-value of 1.3 WM² for a fitted door. Available in woodgrain, silkgrain, Decograin wood laminate finishes and any RAL colour.

The Hormann Supramatic automation kit was developed specially for use on sectional doors, as it opens the door quickly. It comes with a short, medium or long boom to suit the door height and is compatible with whole house home automation and numerous other optional extras designed to help make life easy.
